Gunmen kill two, as LG boss escapes assassination in Kogi

A Local Government administrator in Kogi State, Abdulraheem Ohiare had narrowly escaped death Saturday morning. Ohiare, who heads  Okehi local government  cheated death by the whiskers when armed med attacked his residence in Nagazi.

But two of his close associates were not as lucky as they were killed by yet to be identified gunmen.

The gunmen were said to have invaded the residence at about 2.30 am and started shooting sporadically. However, some eagle eyed security operatives on ground were said to have been at alert and repelled the attack. The mobile policemen were said to have prevented the hoodlums from gaining entrance into the building.

But it was learnt that a previous attack Friday evening had left two close associates of the council boss dead. The attack on the late duo happened at about 8pm and was believed to be a prelude to the one carried out on the administrator.

The State Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, was said to have visited the scenes of the attack with the aim of launching an investigation into it. He was said to have directed a full scale investigation into the attack, while security was also ordered to be beefed up in the community.

The administrator could not be reached as at the time ot this report. It will be recalled that last weekend, the Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye alleged an assassination attempt on his life when he visited his country home, Aiyetoro-Gbede for Easter.
