The Edo State election petition tribunal, sitting in Benin Friday dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and it’s candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, challenging the declaration of Mr Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress, as the winner of September 28, 2016, governorship election in the State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had declared Mr. Obaseki, winner of the election.
Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ahmed Badamasi, in a judgement that lasted for about two hours and 10 minutes, said the petitioners failed to prove that the election was marred with non-compliance with electoral guidelines, whereas the defendants proved that the conduct of the election was credible.
He, therefore, dismissed the petitions of the petitioners.
