Man, 34, goes to jail for contempt of court

A 34-year-old, Jimoh Adams, is to spend the next three months in jail for contempt of court, an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun ruled on Friday, the News Agency of Nigetia, NANreports

The Senior Magistrate, Mr S. O. Banwo, who gave the verdict, however, gave the convict an option of N10, 000 fine.

Adams, whose address is unknown, had pleaded guilty to the charge of contempt.

Earlier, The Prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 9 at about 9.00 a. m. at the court.

Gbesi said the accused disregarded the court’s order by jumping bail.

The offence contravened Section 133 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun 2006.
