Two teenagers who allegedly broke into a house and stole five power generators worth N350,000, were on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Tijani Dauda and Benjamin Chinedu, both aged 18, are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing along with Michael Dosumi, 21.
The Prosecutor, Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 6 at Ojodu Berger, Lagos.
According to Eruada, the accused broke into the apartments of Mrs Odutola Ebun, Mr Abiodun Oyinye and Mr Oye Oyetola and stole their generators.
He said that the accused, whose addresses were not provided, scaled the fence of the building, adding that the security guard apprehended and handed them over to the police.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, G.O. Anifowoshe, granted each of them bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties each in like sum, and adjourned the case till March 8 for mention.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the alleged offences contravene Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Section 285 stipulates three years imprisonment for stealing, while Section 409 provides for a two-year jail term for conspiracy. (NAN)
