Police nab 4 suspects over gang rape of 11 year old girl

The Oyo state Police Command has confirmed the arrest of four suspects who raped an 11 year-old secondary school student last Saturday around NNPC area, Apata, Ibadan,  Oyo State.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Adekunle Ajisebutu who did not disclosed the names of the suspects, said that the police has started thorough investigation stressing that if the suspects were found guilty, they would be charged to court.
 
Disclosing the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID for thorough investigation, Ajisebutu stated, “The case was reported by the mother of the victim. Because of the seriousness of the crime, the state Commissioner of Police, Samuel Adegbuyi, had directed that the case should be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the command for thorough investigation.”
 
According to an investigation, the victim was raped by the men while hawking detergent for her mother. 

Investigations revealed that the 11 year old girl usually hawk with her brother.
But on the fateful day she was raped, she was alone in the area after her brother had gone to collect some money from a customer on the other street.

The source who was privy to the event explained that two men on commercial motorcycle had approach the victim to buy detergent at N200 instead of N150 because each cost N50.

After selling the detergent, one of them offered her N500 and when the girl told them that she did not have change, she was told to come with them to a location where she would collect her money. Upon her rejection, she was forcefully dragged to an uncompleted building where two other men were waiting for them and all of them took turn to forcefully had canal knowledge of her.

Another source in the area said, “The incident happened on Saturday afternoon but the girl had no one to help her. After she escaped from the rapists’ hideout, she told us that after being taken to the house, one of the two boys who were waiting there covered her mouth while the others forcefully opened her legs. She said the two men who brought her to the building raped her first before the two others took their turn. But because she lives with her mother in this area, she was able to identify her attackers which led to their arrest”.
