The Omega Fire Ministry (OFM) has blamed President Muhammadu Buhari for the failed attempt to arrest the General Overseer of the church, Apostle Johnson Suleman, at Ado-Ekit I, capital of Ekiti State by the Department of State Security, in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Edo State Head Pastor of the church, Azemhe Azena, while addressing a press conference in Benin, alleged that the presidency was after the General Overseer of the church over his continued condemnations of incessant killings of Christians in Southern Kaduna in Kaduna State.
He noted that the church would employ all legal means to seek redress and defend Christendom should the presidency continue attack on his overseer.
He said Apostle Suleman believes in the progress and unity of Nigeria, adding that no amount of intimidation from the government will stop the General Overseer of the Church from speaking the truth to the government and standing in defense of the defenseless.
Azena noted that the church will continue praying for the good of Nigeria, and for the almighty God to guide her leaders right.
“This is to inform the millions of followers and supporters of Apostle Johnson Suleman all the world that the man of God is very safe, and that the attempted arrest by the Department of State Security on the man of God on the instruction and orders of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was unsuccessful.
“Typical of a tyrannical government, while the man of God was in Ekiti State, Nigeria for a crusade which held at the Ekiti State pavilion, the government of president Buhari ordered two truck-loads of fully armed DSS officers to forcefully arrest the man of God, but the people and the government of Ekiti State overwhelmingly resisted the arrest.
“This country was founded on the principles of equality before the law and justice. There should be strict adherence to the spirit and letters of our constitution and nobody should be treated as a common criminal as the country belongs to every one of us irrespective of religion, sex and social status,” he stated.
He alleged that in the last few months thousands of defenseless Christians have been killed across the various cities in Nigeria with nearly a thousand so far killed in Southern Kaduna alone.
While describing the attempted arrest of the church leader as unconstitutional, morally wrong and procedurally defective, he explained that he (Suleman) was not facing any corruption charge neither was there any petition against him.
He however called on the government of President Buhari to heed the call of all Nigerians and step-up in his leadership, protect the people, stop the mindless killings going on daily across the country.
Azena also urged the president to stop the alleged unwarranted persecution against the church, the Christian community and wanton destruction of churches, pointing out that as father of the nation his body language and voice ought to be visibly heard as leader of a united Nigeria.
