The Jigawa Government says it will engage youths trained in carpentry to repair 10,000 broken chairs in primary and junior secondary schools across the state at the cost of N40,000.

Alhaji Salisu Zakar, the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), disclosed this on Friday in Dutse in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Zakar explained that some youths who acquired skills in carpentry from the state’s school acquisition centres would be engaged to repair the broken chairs.
He said that N4,000 would be paid for each of the 10,000 selected broken chairs in both primary and junior secondary Schools.

The chairman also said that plans were under way to renovate or build four houses for head masters and teachers in selected communities across the state.
Zakar said that such structures exist in some rural communities, but were dilapidated and in bad shape.
He stated that government would renovate such houses where they existed and build new ones where necessary.
Zakar said the idea was to enable teachers stay in such communities to ensure effective teaching.
