Yuletide: Al-Makura enjoins people to show charity

As Christians all over the world celebrate Christmas in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, Governor of Nasarawa State. Umaru Tanko Al-makura, has congratulated all Christians for witnessing the celebration and urged them to live in love, peace, good neighborliness and sacrifice. This was contained in his 2016 Christmas message.

He advised people to celebrate with decorum, modesty and imbibe the spirit of
sharing. noting that showing love will be another way to earn salvation.
“It is only by so doing that you will internalize what the bible says
in proverbs 22:9 that the generous themselves will be blessed, for they share their food with the poor”.

The Governor admonished the people “to use this spiritual period and engage
in fervent prayers for sustenance of peace, security and economic
recovery of our dear State and Nigeria at large. This is more so that
the recession has continued to affects all facets of our living.”

He called on all road users to be conscious and considerate, urging them to to obey traffic rules and regulations in order to ensure safety of lives.

The Governor urged “all and sundry to continue to support the
effort of this administration geared towards improving the living
standard of the people. On our part, I assure you that government will
continue to take adequate measures that will ameliorate the hardship
caused by the economic downturn and ensure security of lives and
property at all times for sustainable harmony and cohesion.
