Man gets N50,000 bail for stealing N15,000 battery

 

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN reports that an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday granted N50,000 bail to a 22-year-old man, Adefowope Sodiq, who allegedly stole a tricycle battery worth N15,000.

The accused, who resides in Agege, Lagos, is facing a count charge.

The prosecutor, Insp. Victor Eruada, told the court that the accused stole the battery over night from where it was parked on Nov. 21, at Conoil Filling Station, Agege.

The prosecutor said that Sodiq stole the battery belonging to one Ewuji Samson.

According to him, the security guard name (withheld) caught the accused in the act which led to his (Sodiq) arrested.

He said that the offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mrs G.O. Anifowoshe, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Anifowoshe adjourned the case to Jan. 9 for mention.
