Some players of Nigeria’s national female senior football team, the Supers Flacons who recently won the Women African Cup of Nations on Wednesday stormed the National Assembly with placards in continuation of their protests against unpaid allowances.
The players have been camped at a hotel in Abuja after they returned with the AWCON trophy by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.
The football players said while they should have earned about $16,500 for winning the continental trophy, NFF has only paid N600, 000 each to each player. The NFF has repeatedly failed to fulfill the promise of paying the girls.
The NFF is also said to be owing the players some allowances that should have been paid to them in the qualifying rounds of the competition.
