Governor Yahaya Bello has expressed his deep condolences to the Government and people of Akwa Ibom state over the church collapse incident that led to heavy casualties over the weekend.
Addressing worshipers at The Apostolic Church, Ajara, Lokoha through his Director General on Media and Publicity, Kingsley Fanwo, the Governor said the “church auditorium collapse in Akwa Ibom is a sad occurrence that has left a dark scar on the minds of Nigeria”, saying the entire nation is with the Akwa Ibom people “at this dark hour”.
“I wish to condole with my brother, Gov. Udom Emmanuel and the entire Akwa Ibom people over the unfortunate incident of the church auditorium collapse in which many are feared dead.
“Our hearts go to the families that lost their loved ones and those still recovering from injuries. We sympathize with you and will continue to support you through this trying period”.
The Governor urged the church to continue to pray for the greatness of the nation, praying for the repose of the lost souls. He urged for better regulation of structures in the country to curb against “needless and painful loss of lives in the country”.
