Oyo State Government says it is not a beneficiary of the N522.74 billion disbursed to states as part of reimbursement for the over-deduction on the Paris Club loan.
Mr Toye Arulogun, the State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism made the disclosure on Tuesday in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government had approved the sum of N522.74 billion for payment to the 36 states of the federation as part of reimbursement for the over-deduction on the Paris Club loan.
NAN reports that Mrs Kemi Adeosun, the Minister of Finance, had in a statement explained that the first batch of N153.01 billion was currently being processed for release to 14 state governments to provide direct stimulus through government spending.
She stated that the funds, when released would boost demand at consumer level and reverse the slowdown in economic activities.
Arulogun, however, said that the state had never collected such money and was not among the 14 states listed to benefit from the money.
“Information at our disposal is that the state will not benefit from the funds.
“We have always been a transparent government which will not hide whatever is meant for the public. Our government is a people-oriented one.’’
In another development, the commissioner said that the next edition of the town hall meeting organised by the state government would hold in Saki on Monday, Dec. 12.
Arulogun said that the meeting would cover Saki West, Saki East, Olorunsogo, Irepo, Atisoba, Surulere, Itesiwaju, Oriire, Oorelope, Iwajowa, Iseyin, Kajola and some parts of Ogbomoso North.
He also stated that the town hall meeting for Oyo Central Senatorial district would hold on a date to be announced later. (NAN)
