All Progressives Congress (APC) guber candidate in the 2015 elections, Dr Dakuku Peterside has berated the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over a recent statement accusing him and other party leaders of provocative statements and incitement.
The PDP had in a statement, accused Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, Senator Magnus Abe and Dakuku Peterside of “provocative and inciting activities likely to breach public peace in the state.”
However, Dr Dakuku Peterside says if there is anybody to call to order, it is Governor Nyesom Wike who he accused of being the promoter of violence in the state.
“Am sure everybody knows that Wike is the one that introduced violence into the electoral process in the state. We are all aware of the violence that has trailed every election in the last one year. It is the governor who through his actions and utterances, emboldened thugs and militants loyal to him and his party to cause mayhem in the state.
“It is the same governor that has threatened INEC officials and ad hoc staff, security agents and Rivers people that are opposed to his directionless government. It is on record that Wike openly mentioned the names of INEC Returning officers and declared that they should write their wills before conducting election.
“Only last weekend, the governor was hopping from one church to the other, calling on Rivers people to revolt against government establishments and security agents. This is clearly a call to breakdown of law and order, violence belongs to primordial period, there are identified means of resolving issues and not resorting to violence,” he stated
Dr Peterside stressed that the conduct of the governor is an “embarrassment to the office he occupies” and the real reason why law and order has been breached in the state on several occasions.
He called on members of APC in the state to remain unshaken in their support and vote for all candidates of the party in the forthcoming rerun, assuring that adequate security would be provided to enable them freely vote for candidates of their choice.
He assured Rivers people that this era of choreographed nightmare by those who by law and our constitution ought to protect their interests is only a phase and it will come to pass, as they don’t deserve this.
