The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has raised the alarm that the Judicial Commission of Inquiry which was inaugurated by Gov. Yahaya Bello to probe two former Governors of the state- Alh. Ibrahim Idris and Capt. Idris Wada, is created to work to a preconceived answer of condemning the former Governors come what may. This was contained in a press statement issued monday by the party’s state Publicity Secretary, Mr. Bode Ogunmola.
The commission had its inaugural meeting on Monday 14th November in Government House, Lokoja. Ogunmola said apart from the fact that the Governor single handedly picked his cronnies as members of the commission, he had used every public forum to attack the integrity of his predecessors calling them ‘thieves,’ ‘looters,’ ‘maladministrators’ and other unprintable names.
“It is obvious that the commission is only a Kangaroo body set up by the Governor to condemn those he had serially accused and brought before it. The former Governors can never in the present circumstance receive fair hearing. Bello is the accuser, the investigator and the judge. We can not be fooled*
Ogunmola said the PDP is not against the fight against corruption, but decried a situation where only members of the party are targeted for witchunting. “He who must come to equity, must come with clean hands.” He concluded.
