The Kogi State Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Idris Asiwaju has given assurance that regular payment of workers salaries in the State will soon be restored. Asiwaju gave this assurance while speaking at the 2016 Takete-Ide Day, a socio-cultural festival in MopAmuro Local Government at the weekend.

“Efforts are in top gear to ensure delay in salary payment in Kogi State will be a thing of the past as soon as the on-going verification of the state workforce is concluded” the commissioner promised.

He hinted that the complaints and review committee working on the screening exercise are rounding up their work and as soon as possible, delay in salary payments will be a thing of the past in Kogi state.

While sympathizing with Takete-Ide community on the bad state of their road network, Asiwaju revealed that the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has mandated the state Commissioner of Works to go round the state and identify all bad roads for immediate rehabilitation and construction.

He confirmed that the Takete-Ide road was awarded to a company, Ky-Fy Global Nigeria Limited, by the previous administration but the shoddy work done on the road by this company is not commensurate with the money paid by the state government.

Asiwaju discosed that the Yahaya Bello-led administration, during a recent EXCO meeting, ordered the contractor to return to site and carry out work on the road based on the monies collected from government or risk prosecution.

In his remark, National President of Takete Ide Progressive Union, TIPU, Mr Sam Orunmbe thanked the commissioner for his presence and appealed to the State Government to expedite work on the road and other community projects. The event which featured cultural displays was well attended.
