The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has condemned the assassination of Chairman, Kogi Chapter of Wuro Miyetti-Allah Association, Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Petra Akinti Onyegbule, the governor condemned the killing, and said he is already working with security agencies to unravel the incident.

The Governor appealed that the prevailing calm in the state should be sustained, and urged people not to take the law into their hands. He said it is important that crime does not go unpunished, in order to send a resounding message to all and sundry that such will not be tolerated in Kogi State under his

Alhaji Abubakah was killed at about 2.05am on Saturday by unknown gunmen.
The incident which happened at road 3 of peace community along Ganaja Ajaokuta road Lokoja saw residents of the community gripped with fear and panic in the over one hour operation of the armed bandit.

Meanwhile, more facts have emerged over the early morning assassination. The hoodlums were said to have numbered about 8 according to some residents who spoke on the ugly incident. The suspected hoodlums beat the intelligence of police operatives attached to ‘C Division’ Lokoja as they allegedly passed through an unfamiliar root to gain entrance into the residence of their victim.

Pointing accusing fingers that the killing was carried out by fellow suspected Fulani herdsmen, a neighbor to the deceased who identified himself as Musa said, before the culpable homicide was carried out in the neighborhood, he saw some strange faces passing within the vicinity not knowing they have another motive in that area.

Musa said the deceased who survived with two wife and children, was matcheted and shot in different parts of his body when the culprits gained access to one of his wife room after forcing the door to open with gunshot.

A doctor attached to the Federal medical centre Lokoja Dr Sam Alhassan who conducted an autopsy to affirmed the death of Alhaji Abubakah also recounted what transpired at the wee hour of the days since his house is just some steps where the incident occurred.

He said ” I was in my room which is just steps away to his house and I started hearing gunshot. Then I rose up from my bed and I began to look through the window. I saw a group of bandits in two lines. At least I saw eight people, and they started shooting, shooting, and shooting. The next thing that I saw was that a bullet hit the overhead tank and water started draining down. Later me and my family went quiet for a while then wife of the deceased came out and said they have killed my husband.”

“On saying that, my landlord who is a security officer went inside to go and ascertain this fact, that the man is actually dead. I went inside also, I saw Alhaji with a pool of blood, body Matcheted with a live less body” Dr Alhassan narrated.
