Dave Eggers, a U.S. song writer, has created a music playlist entitled “30 Days, 30 Songs” which he hopes would convince people not to vote for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

He said on Tuesday in Washington that daily each of the 30 days before the Nov. 8 presidential election, one original anti-Trump song would be added to the playlist which began last week.

The writer said that so far, the protest playlist has included songs by artists such as Franz Ferdinand, Aimee Mann and Death Cab for Cutie.

“The song’s lyrics describe Trump as a demagogue, gun-lover and a liar.

Eggers, author of novels such as “The Circle” and “A Hologram for the King,” came up with the idea for the project at a Trump rally in California in June.

“While the audience was waiting for Trump to appear, I was pretty surprised to hear music by Bruce Springsteen, Elton John and Queen,” Eggers wrote in a piece for the Guardian newspaper.

“None of these musicians support Trump, of course, so it occurred to me that this election would benefit from the timely resurrection of the political protest song,’’ he said.

In 2012, Eggers launched a campaign called “90 Days, 90 Reasons” to convince voters to re-elect President Barack Obama. (dpa/NAN)
