Margaret, wife of Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefile who was kidnapped on Thursday has been released by her abductors.
Thisday newspapers quoted family sources as confirming that Mrs. Emefile was rescued “due to the gallantry of the Armed Forces, Police and Security Forces”, in Ugoneki near Benin City and is currently recuperating in Government House, Asaba.
Reports indicate that a combined team of soldiers, air force officers and mobile police officers rescued Mrs Emefile at a forest at Benin-Agbor road where she was being kept by her abductors and rescued her.
Heavily armed kidnappers had on Thursday abducted Mrs Emefiele along the Benin-Agbor Road.
The kidnappers were said to have made contact with their victim’s husband, demanding for a huge sum of money as ransom.
