The Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday urged members to commence ward meetings and mobilisation ahead of the local council elections which are long overdue.

Chief Moshood Salvador, the PDP State Chairman told the members at its General Assembly at Ikeja , that the election must be used to show the strength of the party in the state.

“All members have a challenging assignment ahead of the local government election that is coming soon; you must all go out and mobilise people while the leaders are working on reconciliation.

“Even before the election, we are having a bye-election to win in Ifako-Ijaye; we have to do all we can to win that area.

“That election should show how strong and powerful we are in Lagos,’’ Salvador said.

The chairman said there was need to sanitise the party and save it from some individuals whose aim was to destroy it.

He said: “Our leaders are talking about giving power to the masses, do not allow anybody to bring money to dictate to you’’.

Salvador alleged that some individuals were tearing the party apart in spite of efforts by the leaders reconcile aggrieved parties.

He, however, prayed that the party would overcome the current challenge, and be able to speak with one voice.(NAN)
