Abia: Ikpeazu retains seat, floors Ogah at Appeal Court

Governor Ikpeazu celebrates victory

The Abuja division of Court of Appeal on Thursday set aside the judgement of Justice Okon Abang which nullified the election of Okezie Ikpeazu as governor of Abia State.

Justice Abang had also ordered INEC to issue a certificate of return to Chief Uche Ogah, the litigant in the suit as the validly elected governor of Abia State.

But in a unanimous decision, the five Justices of the appelate court described the nullification of election of Ikpeazu over allegations that he submitted false tax reports as gross miscarriage of justice.

They decided all the key issues in the appeal in favour of Ikpeazu, thus paving  way for the governor to retain his seat.
