An Abuja High Court on Wednesday granted Mr Matthew Iduoriyekemwem’s application for joinder in a suit filed by Pastor Osage Ize-Iyamu,a PDP governorship aspirant in Edo.

Ize-Iyamu had earlier filed a suit against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) challenging its alleged attempt to substitute him for another candidate in the forthcoming Sept.10, gubernatorial election.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ize-Iyamu and Iduoriyekemwem had emerged gubernatorial candidates of the Ali Modu Sherif and Ahmed Makarfi’s factions of the PDP following separate primaries held on June 20 and June 29 respectively.

Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, the presiding judge, ruled that Iduoriyekemwem be joined in the suit as a co-defendant.

He said that it would only be fair and proper to allow the applicant to be joined in the suit as he might be bound by the actions in the suit.

Adeniyi said that Ize-Iyamu’s originating summons reflected that Iduoriyekemwem was a co participant in the said PDP primaries.

” The application is hereby granted. Iduoriyekemwem is now joined as a co-defendant in the suit,’’ he said.

Adeniyi ordered Mr Chidi Aninwoya, counsel to Ize-Iyamu, to serve Iduoriyekemwem with all papers within five days from the date of the ruling.

He adjourned the case to Aug. 30 for hearing. (NAN)
