The Sole Administrator of Lagos Island Local Government, Nasir Musa, has appealed to the residents of the area to support the programs and policies of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode which are aimed at making life more meaningful.

The council boss made the appeal during the state’s tree planting exercise held at Ebute-Ero, recently.

He also used the event to appeal to the residents of the area to desist from indiscriminate dumping of waste in the drains, especially during the rainy season which he said could lead to flooding.

The council boss called on the residents of the area and Lagosians at large to join hands with the state government in ensuring that the 10 million trees targeted by 2020 is achieved by desisting from cutting trees indiscriminately.

The representative of the governor at the event, Mr. Richard Kasumu, who spoke on this year’s theme: ‘Lend a Hand to Save Trees’ said the government and the people must carry out infrastructural development without jeopardising the environment.

He said, “The fast growing urban development areas across the state must curtail the uncontrolled felling of trees and ensure that all developers adhere to all the town planning and greening regulations.”
