Niger Delta Avengers: We’re not involved in peace talks with government

The Niger Delta Avengers militant group on Thursday evening denied being engaged in any form of talk with the Federal government.

The group which has claimed responsibility for attacks on Nigeria’s oil installations was reacting to claims by President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.

The President had at a farewell dinner for departing German Ambassador said government is talking to militants in the southern Niger Delta to end a wave of attacks on oil and gas facilities and a lasting solution to insecurity in the oil producing region.

“If we are to engage in any peace talk we made it clear that the international community must be part of it,” the group’s spokesman Brig. Gen Mudoch Agbinibo said on the organizations website.

“The President knows our demands. So they should stop deceiving the international oil companies, the general public and the international community,” it added.
