Bariga Sole Administrator urges youths to embrace empowerment

The Sole Administrator of Bariga Local Council Development Area and Chairman Conference 57, Sanya Osinjo, has urged youths in the council to embrace the youth empowerment programme to be carried out in the area by a group called the National Image.

The sole administrator said the empowerment programme was one of the ways youths in the area could acquire skill that could guarantee them stable income.

Osinjo who spoke with journalists in Bariga said one of the major tasks given to the sole administrators when they were inaugurated few weeks ago by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode included job creation and youth empowerment.

He said the sole administrators in council areas were ready to support any youth who made him or herself available for the youth empowerment and leadership programme to start up in life.

Programme Coordinator, Seyi Bamigbade said his organisation, National Image was ready to empower youths in Bariga and take them off street trading.

He said the training and empowerment programme coming up between 18 and 20 July, 2016 would be held within the premises of Bariga LCDA.

Bamigbade said the training programme was coming as a big opportunity for youths to acquire skills in agro-business sector to make them self-sufficient rather than risking their lives, hawking on the highways.

He urged youths in Bariga area to register for the programme, as there were many opportunities attached to the programme.

“Participants aside from being trained will be enrolled into our cooperatives where they can access soft loans for their businesses. We will also link them directly with the Bank of Industry and take them through the procedures of obtaining money for their businesses from the bank,” he said.
