Despite the assurances of internal safety of lives and property by the Rivers Government to citizens and prospective investors, Eze Ekpeyelogbe HRM Robinson O. Robinson of Ekpeye Ethnic nationality has raised alarm over incessant killings of his people by deadly cult gang members.

The first class monarch of Ekpeye kingdom, Robinson O Robinson said that in addition to the killings of his people by Uzuochi, senseless killings have remained unabated.

He said: “It is unfortunate that I should be calling you for tragedies instead of news of development in my kingdom. But if you don’t cry out when you are faced with tragedies nobody will hear you and come to your rescue.

“It is sad again that on Tuesday 19 June, nine innocent persons were murdered in cold in Okugbe clan along East-West road in Ahoada West local Government area by hoodlums known to the people.”

The monarch regretted that security agencies have not been able unravel and nail those that are behind the wanton killing of his people.

Robinson O. Robinson, a retired Flight Lautenant, said he is not satisfied with the performances of security agencies in Ekpeyeland. He lamented that despite the presence of “two divisional police stations, two joint task force stations, area command of the Nigeria Police, a unit of Mopol 19 within the closed area of Ekpeye kingdom, yet killings have continued unabated. We are appealing to security agencies in the area to redouble their efforts to effort because we are suffering.”

A few months ago, unknown assassins invaded the monarch’s palace, burnt a part of it and set ablaze seven parked cars, while the monarch escaped by the whiskers.

In a related development, the new Commissioner of Police, Foluso Adebanjo has warned that Rivers State will no longer be a safe haven for hoodlums. He said hoodlums will feel the heat of the onslaught by the Police Command under his watch.

He has warned hoodlums to relocate from the state because none would be spared.
