Niger Delta Avengers, the new militant group which has been attacking oil installations in the oil producing Niger Delta region announced on Wednesday that it has destroyed another oil well belonging to American multinational oil giant, Chevron.
Attacks on oil installations by the group had in the past few weeks reduced Nigeria’s oil production by about 50 per cent.
It claimed through its twitter account, @NDAvengers that the latest oil well it destroyed on Wednesday morning was located in Warri, Delta State.
“@At 1:00am today, the NDAvengers blow up Well RMP 20 belonging to Chevron located 20 meters away from Dibi flow Station in Warri North LGA,” the militant group said.
In another tweet, the group in obvious reaction to the meeting held between Federal government and governors of Niger Delta states yesterday on how to curb renewed insurgency in the region said it is not interested in negotiating with any group.
Niger Delta governors had yesterday said they will go into negotiations with groups destroying oil facilities in the Niger Delta with a view to convincing them to stop the attacks.
But the NDA which had earlier indicated that its minimum demand to stop the attack on oil installations is autonomy of the oil producing region from the Nigerian state indicated that it is not open to such discussions.
The group said on its twitter handle that “This is to the Gen. public we are not negotiating with any committee. If Fed Govt is discussing with any group they’re doing that on their own.
