Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State

Governor Yahyah Bello of Kogi has sworn in 15 new commissioners whose nominations were confirmed yesterday by the State House of Assembly.

While swearing in the new commissioners, the Governor warned that the state is facing many challenges. But he noted that with the assumption of office of the new commissioners, his government is complete and no longer have excuses for non performance.

“The whole world is watching us. We must prove that we can do it and do it better,” he said.  Bello also explained that all the local governments of the state cannot be represented in the cabinet because of the reduction in the number of ministries from 20 to 15 to save costs. “We have only 15 ministries, down from 20. In the spirit of equity and fairness, we used Senatorial Zones to distribute the posts.”

The Governor however said no part of the state can say it is marginalized in his administration, affirming that he is not out to play politics but to govern.

The Commissioners sworn in include Mr Abdulmumini Sadiq for Works, Land and Housing, Dr. Saka Haruna  for  Health,  Alhaji Sanusi Usman,  Commerce and Industry, Dr. Tim Dichie, Agricultural and Natural Resources, Honourable Enema Paul,  Rural Development and  Dr. Tolorunleke Sunday as commissioner for Education and Technology.

Also sworn in are Barrister Oloruntoba Kehinde who emerged the commissioner for Budget and Planning,  Mohammed Awal for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Bolanle Amupitan, for Women and Social Development and Arome Adoji as commissioner for Youth Development and Sports.

The others are Prince Salisu Sani Ogu for Transport, Barrister Salami Momodu Ozigi, Water Resources, Barrister Mohammed Ibrahim, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mrs Rosemary Osikoya, for  Environment and Alhaji Idris Asiwaju as commissioner for Finance.
