Niger Delta Avengers claimed on Friday morning that it has destroyed a crude export pipeline belonging to multinational oil firm, Shell.
The militant group had previously attacked the oil facility when it began its campaign to bring “Nigeria’s oil production to zero” few weeks ago. It had also; in a series of tweets, warned owners of oil installations it had destroyed in the past few weeks not to make any effort to repair them.
The militant group had about two weeks ago, visited it fury on another multinational oil company, Chevron for attempting to repair an oil installation it sabotaged by blowing up more assets of the firm. NDA said on Friday morning that the destruction of the Shell crude pipeline was for a similar reason.
“ At 3:00 am today @NDAvengers blow up the SPDC forcados 48″ Exportline. We warned SPDC not to go ahead with repair works but they refuse,” the group said in the tweet posted on its timeline.
There has been no independent confirmation of the claim.
The group had also on Thursday announced on its twitter handle @NDAvengers that it blew up the Ogboinbiri to Tebidaba and Clough Creek to Tebidaba Crude Oil pipelines in Bayelsa State at about 2 am on Thursday.
The militant group did not name the company which owned the oil assets, contrary to its usual practice. The group added that the blew up of the oil installations in “is in line with our promise to all international Oil companies and Indigenous Oil Companies that Nigeria Oil production will be Zero.”
The Federal Government has so far insisted that it will not negotiate with the group which it described as criminals despite the fact that its sabotage activities have reduced Nigeria’s oil production by over 50 per cent.
On its part, the NDA has stated that its minimum demand for cessation of hostilities against the Nigerian state on its part will be the granting of regional autonomy to Niger Delta.
