Sheikh el-Zakzaky: Detained since 14 December
Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky’s human rights violation suit against the Department of State Services, the attorney general of the Federation and the Nigerian Police,  has been fixed for 14 June.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court in Abuja made the order after the respondents in the case failed to appear in court.
Mr Femi Falana, leading counsel for the detained  Zakzaky and his wife,Malama Zeenat, had told the court  to commence hearing since the respondents have not indicated their wish to oppose the applications filed against them  since 3 May 2016.
But Justice Kolawole ruled that respondents be served with fresh hearing notice.
Falana SAN told newsmen in Abuja that the rights of his clients have been trampled upon since they were held in detention by the DSS for the past five months from 14th of December 2014.
The case  seeks the immediate release of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria  and his wife as well as the payment of damages to each of them in the sum of N2 billion.
