Unidentified gunmen stormed the Rivers State High Court Complex in Port Harcourt in the early hours of this morning, killed two security guards , while two others were wounded.

Commissioner of Police, Musa Kimo whose office is next door has visited the scene  for assessment. Kimo vowed that the hoodlums would be fished out and the motive behind the attack unravelled.

Emmanuel C. Aguma, SAN, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice and top officials of the ministry have also visited the scene.

Although the reason for the attack has not been ascertained, three suspects who allegedly killed former militant leader, Soboma George, six years ago are billed to appear before  Justice George Omereji today, tomorrow and next.

Unconfirmed reports have it that the members of Soboma George gang had vowed that the suspects would rot in jail.

It is however not clear the correlation between the arraignment  of the suspects  and the gunmen’s invasion of the court complex.

Meanwhile, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that five policemen were killed by yet to be identified gunmen in Ahoada West Local Government Area.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Ahmad Muhammad, said the policemen were ambushed and killed in Okogbe community on their way to Yenegoa on Monday.

He also said the killed policemen were not from the Rivers State Police Command but were returning from Yobe State to Yenagoa, their base before they were killed.
