England, Germany, Italy, France have already crowned the winners of their main football league.
But in Spain, the gladiators are leaving matters for the last day.
They were three until today, but Atletico Madrid slipped away to Levante 1-2, leaving Barcelona and Real Madrid alone to decide the winner of La Liga.
Unlike Atletico, the two giants won at home today. Barca spanked Espanyol 5-0, with a brace by Luis Suarez, and other goals by Lionel Messi, Rafinha and Neymar. Espanyol even bagged 7 yellow cards to boot, with only two awarded against Barca, Messi and Javier Mascherano being the culprits.
At Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid also banged 3 goals against Valencia, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring two and fit-again Karim Benzema scoring the third. But Valencia duo of Rodrigo and Andre Gomes pegged the scoreline to 2-3, with Rodrigo also bagging a red card in the 83rd minute.
Only a point now separates Madrid and Barcelona, 88-87, with just one final game to go.
Next Saturday, both teams will be on the road to determine their fate.
Barcelona will take on Granada, who beat Sevilla 4-1 today.
Real Madrid will take on Deportivo La Coruna.
At the end of 90 minutes, the 2016 La Liga winner will be either Barca or Real Madrid. Even if they win their last game, Atletico, with 85 points are out because Barcelona have a vast goal advantage.
