Biya arrives for Nigeria visit

VP Osinbajo at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport to receive President Biya

President Paul Biya of Cameroon on Tuesday afternoon arrived in Nigeria for a two day visit.

The Cameroonian President was received at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo when his plane touched down around noon. He was accompanied by his wife.

The Cameroonian President and his wife later inspected a guard of honour mounted by Nigeria’s Brigade of Guards alongside President Muhammadu Buhari at Aso Rock Presidential Villa. Both Presidents have gone into a closed door meeting.

Apart from Chantal, his wife, President Biya is also accompanied by senior Cameroonian government officials on the two day visit which was at the instance of President Buhari.

Both leaders and their officials will confer on issues of common interest to Nigeria and Cameroon, including ongoing bilateral and regional cooperation against terrorism, violent extremism and cross-border crimes.

It is expected that new agreements to strengthen existing ties, as well as trade and economic relations between Nigeria and Cameroon, will be concluded and signed before the end of President Biya’s visit.

A joint communiqué on the visit and the talks between the two presidents and their officials will be issued before President Biya’s departure from Abuja on Wednesday.
