Gareth Bale heads Madrid top of La Liga again

Real Madrid have gone top of La Liga for the second time in one week, after beating Real Sociedad 1-0 today.

Sociedad, conquerors of Barcelona several weeks ago, went down at their Estadio Anoeta, thanks to the 80th minute header by Gareth Bale.

In the match in which the two teams fought very hard not to concede any goal saw eight players earning yellow cards, four cards on each side.

Madrid knowing what was at stake however recorded seven shots on target, in contrast to their hosts four.

The three points have shot Madrid once again to the top ahead of Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. They now have 84 points to Barcelona and Atletico’s 82 points.

Atletico will host 16th placed Rayo Vallecano later today, while Barcelona travel to play 13th placed Real Betis at Estadio Benito Villamarín in Seville.
