Anisulowo: Police boss, others move to Ilaro

In his bid to ensure that the abducted former Nigerian Minister,  Iyabo Anisulowo is rescued, Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali and some other senior officers of the command have relocated to Ilaro,  the political capital of Yewa land.

The APC chieftain, also a former senator,  was kidnapped on Wednesday night while returning from her farm along Sawonjo/Igankoto Road in Yewa area of Ogun State.

Since then, a combined team of security personnel  including the local hunters and members of the Vigilante Service of Ogun,VSO, Yewa zone have  combed every nooks and crannies of the area in search of the woman.

The Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence, Assistant Commissioner of Police in Operations, Officers in Charge of The Special Anto Robbery and the Kidnapping Squads, Officers and men of the State Intelligence Bureau and Police Mobile Force,ICT Experts, have been on their toes and working assiduously to ensure that the victim is rescued unhurt and the perpetrators apprehended.

The Assistant Inspector General,AIG Bala Hassan,who is in charge of zone 2 (Lagos and Ogun) command was at the scene of the incident on Thursday with the State Governor,Ibikunle Amosun,where he directed that the woman must be rescued unhurt.

It was reliably gathered that a special team from the office of the Inspector General of Police,Force Headquarters, Abuja is  already in the area to join in the rescue mission.

Our correspondent reliably gathered from a police source that over 120 men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force have been deployed from all commands in the state to support in the rescue mission.

Also,it was gathered that army officers from Alamala,Abeokuta yesterday spread their tentacles to some residential and other buildings around Lafenwa road through to Rounder and neighbouring communities in the search for the woman.

A military source confirmed the incident to our correspondent and  hinted that they are acting on a clue which,according to the source must  be acted upon.

Report has it that the police have some clues as the Toyota SUV of the victim,with Reg No Lagos LSD 115 AM has been recovered with some items therein.

The CP disclosed that the recovery will definitely catalyze the forensic investigation into the matter and immediate rescue of the victim.

Some unconfirmed report has it that the woman was sighted covered with piece of cloth on a motorcycle with some firewood at Obalado community,few meters away from where she was kidnapped.

Ogun state Governor, Amosun  has given the assurance that the politician would  be rescued unhurt.

 “Ogun State is not a place for criminals. We will find those who did this and bring them to justice. Ogun State is not and can never be a safe haven for criminals,” Amosun declared.

The lawmaker representing Yewa South/Ipokia federal constituency, Adekunle Akinlade said the abduction of Sen. Iyabo Anisulowo, whom they fondly call “Mama” is unfortunate and sad.

“This singular act is a reflection of the debasement of our values as a people. Why would anyone kidnap a 65 year old pensioner?

“Mama has spent the last couple of years manning her farm and living a very modest  life.

“As her representative at the National Assembly, I will continue to explore every available source to ensure her safe release.

“I want to thank our governor for his swift response and action, the security agencies for their continued efforts, the good people of Yewa land, Ogun State and Nigeria for their prayers. Thank you and God bless”, he  said.

In a statement,  police boss ,CP Abdulmajid Ali  appealed to the people to be patient and remain calm as the rescue operation will be a success.

He  promised that the command, “will, by all means,tackle any crimes or violent crimes in Ogun State”.
