Ekiti people made a wrong choice in Fayose

Gov. Fayose

Dr Olubunmi Muhammed Balogun, Secretary of Ekiti All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Initiative Forum has condemned the Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose for his refusal to attend the crucial meeting that Nigerian governors held with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.

In the words of Balogun: “When governors of all the state of the in Nigeria were busy talking about how to move their state forward yesterday with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, Ekiti State governor, Aypodele Fayose was nowhere to be found. The bible says: ti o ba serere ara kiyio a yao bi (if you do good, you don’t need to hide your self).”

The meeting which started at exactly 2pm held inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Most of the state governors were in attendance while a few others were represented by their deputies. One of the main critics of the President, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, according to The Punch, was “absent.”

The meeting was also attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun; and the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

One of the outcomes of the meeting was that President Muhammadu Buhari promised to make more money available to states to help them over the prevailing financial difficulties that have made it impossible for them to pay their workers’ salaries for months.

Another was the promise to reimburse states over FG projects they executed. However, Balogun lamented: “Since Fayose was not there, how will Ekiti people not lose? What kind of governor is this? Have Ekiti people not boarded ‘one chance’ bus?”
