Gbenga Daniel: trial continues

An  operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Orji Chukwuma has told a High Court in Abeokuta, that the  former Director General,Lands and Survey Bureau in Ogun State, Gbenga Ogunnoiki has disappeared.

Chukwuma said Ogunnoiki’s disappearance is frustrating the EFCC efforts to get some land documents relating to  former governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.

Chukwuma said this at the resumed hearing of case of official corruption that the EFCC filed against Daniel.

The case is being heard at the High Court, Isabo, Abeokuta,the state capital.

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission,EFCC listed the affected properties and companies as follows;  Golf Resorts Hotel, Abeokuta, Gateway Front Foundation, Blue Chapel Limited, Portal Property Limited and Regeneration Church of God, GRA, Sagamu.

Also, a construction company, ARON Construction was accused of money laundering  by the prosecution witness while being led in evidence by the EFCC Counsel, Adebisi Adebiyi.

ARON Nigeria Limited ,which  handled the construction of three stadia located at Ijebu Ode,Ilaro and Sagamu,all in Ogun state was said to have paid several millions of naira into the accounts of some companies,where the former Governor,Otunba Gbenga Daniel is a sole signatory between 2003-2011.

According to the Witness, he said, “N12 million was paid by ARON Nigeria Limited into Krestal Laurel Limited account with First City Monument Bank, FCMB bank on March 21,2005, N13.49 million was paid in on June, 2005, while N12 million was paid on  February,15,2006.

“ARON Nigeria Limited paid N15 million into a Diamond bank account of First Elevators Nigeria Limited on September 15,2005 and N10 million into the Blue Chapel Limited on September 14,2005”, EFCC revealed.

Following an oral application by the EFCC counsel, Adebisi Adebiyi, the trial Judge, Justice Olanrewaju Mabekoje however adjourned further hearing till May 19 and 20 and June 23 and 24.
