The police have docked five persons before the Apapa Magistrate’s court and charged them with indecent sexual assault on a woman at a bus stop while she was returning from work.
The suspects, Samson Sunday,21, Nathaniel Jacob, 22, Tumba Tizhe, 28 Joseph Tumba, 28 and Abdulahi Abubaka were also charged with theft.
They were arrested after they accosted their victim, at Rainbow Bus stop in Amuwo Odofin area. They forced her to a corner, where they molested her sexually.
According to police, the suspects allegedly fondled her breasts, forced her to the ground, removed her pant and one after the other, inserted their fingers inside her private part.
The police said the suspects debased the woman before they left her.
Thereafter, they collected her phone and stole her N131, 000 in her bag and escaped.
The woman reported the assault and stealing to the police who trailed the suspects and arrested them .
The victim was invited to the station and she identified the suspects.
Subsequently, the police charged them to court with stealing and indecent assault and stealing under the Criminal code.
They pleaded not guilty.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr T. Abolarinwa granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum who must show evidence mean of livelihood.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 5 May 2016.
