Deputy Gov. Oluranti Adebule greets Mosunmola Jafojo

Lagos State  Deputy Governor ,Dr Idiat  Oluranti Adebule  has described  the death of one of her predecessors,  Alhaji Rafiu Bakare Jafojo, as a big loss  to the state.

Jafojo, was deputy governor under the Lateef Jakande administration between 1979 and 1983.

Adebule said Jafojo would be missed considering  his various contributions to the development of the state and his wealth of experience. 

Adebule, stated this today when she led a state government delegation, which included the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr AbdulHakeem Abdul Lateef, on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased.

She described the late Jafojo as a seasoned administrator, grass root mobiliser and a community leader of repute. The deputy governor stated that the legacy of hard work, selfless service and his genuine commitment to good governance would for ever be in the minds of Lagosians.

Adebule, who was received by the widow of the deceased,  Mosunmola Jafojo assured the family that the Akinwunmi Ambode led administration would do everything humanly possible to immortalise him and ensure  that  his ideals for good  governance was achieved by doubling efforts in the implementation of people’s oriented programmes.     

While commiserating with the people of the state over the demise of an icon of genuine democracy, Adebule said that the state government would ensure  that his visions  for  grass root developments is realised through the on going rural infrastructure development project of the state Government.

In the condolence register, Adebule wrote, “on behalf of the Governor, the Government and the people of Lagos State, we are going to miss you dearly, your contribution towards the development and growth of the state is appreciated even in death!! papa, may your gentle soul rest in peace.”

Jafojo who died Saturday  will be buried according to Islamic rites on Sunday 24 April, 2016 at his residence in ikeja.

He was born on December 6, 1935. His parents were the late Pa Bakare Adeyefa Jafojo in Ebute Meta and the late Madam Taiwo (nee Adebunmi) of Ebute Meta, Lagos, but he grew up in Isale Awori, Ikeja. The surviving son of the family, his siblings include Madam Amudalat Jafojo, Madam Modupe Vaughan and Alhaja Mulikatu Jafojo, all of blessed memory.
