The police in Lagos have spoken on how they resolved the feud between the famous blogger, Linda Ikeji and popular and international singer, Wizkid Ayo.
According to Lagos Police PRO, Dolapo Badmos, when the police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni called the feuding celebrities, Wizkid denied he really wanted to harm Linda.
He said his statement that he would send his 16 year old brother to beat up Linda, was written out of anger and emotion and there was nothing else to it.
Linda had written on her blog that the landlord of Wizkid had given him eviction notice in his Lekki 1 residence, a claim Wizkid denied as lacking any foundation in truth. Against the background that the blogger had similarly lied against him in December about a cancelled show, Wizkid let loose his tempers and took Linda to the cleaners, including calling her a whore, who had slept with his band director and then he chipped in that he would send his 16 year old brother to beat her up.
Linda justifiably felt threatened as the feud went viral. She wrote the police complaining about a threat to life.
Badmos said although the allegation was criminal in nature, it was resolved through Alternative Dispute resolution.
She said when the police invited the parties, they agreed to resolve the matter out of court.
According to Badmos, Wizkid said he did not mean to threaten her life, rather it was an emotional outburst, with no motive to harm her.(Wizkid with Police Commissioner Fatai Owoseni)
She said the decision to resolve the matter was not because of their status in the society but duo to genuine commitment by the parties to resolve the matter.
She explained that ADR is a standard practice in the world applied to resolve crises due to the high rate of conflict all over the world.
She said the parties were satisfied about how CP Fatai Owoseni handled the matter and forged peace between them.
