The Lagos State Government has recovered N25 million in bogus payments  to ghost  and dead workers at the Local Government level.

The Office of the Auditor-General for Local Governments said salaries were being paid to retirees and dead workers at the various Local Governments and Local Government Education Authorities after their terminal dates for three months.

This was published in the brochure of the First Quarterly Town Hall meeting addressed by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in Ikorodu recently.

The report said in January, 2016, about N4.649 million being paid to retirees and deceased LG staff were recovered, while in February 2016, N3.594 million was recovered.

In March 2016 alone, N16.96 million was recovered from retired ghost workers and deceased workers.

Meanwhile, the report said that there was the re-certification of 140 names of staff of various Local Government and Local Government Education Authorities deleted  on the payroll due to wrong dates of appointment and birth.
