An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 to 7.1 on the Richter Scale has hit Hindukush Region of Afghanistan.
The effect was felt in North India, as it shook parts of north India including Delhi, Punjab and Kashmir. Pakistan’s capital of Islamabad also reported feeling the quake.
The impact of the quake was big enough in New Delhi that Metro services were suspended and alarm bells went off at housing societies.
The tremors hit Kabul hard, Xinhua news agency said.
Pakistani media said the tremors were strongly felt in Lahore and other parts of Punjab province.
