The Edo School of Health Technology, Benin City, has matriculated 334 students into various programmes of the school for the 2015/2016 academic session.
Mr Joe Apili, the Public Relations Officer, Edo Ministry of Health. said the 30th edition of the institution’s matriculation was held on Wednesday, April 6.
Edo Commissioner for Health, Dr Aihanuwa Eregie, who spoke, urged the students to be of good conduct in order to achieve the purpose for which they were admitted.
“The manpower produced by schools/colleges of health technology played important roles in the implementation of primary health care services around the world.Primary health care remained the pivot of health care policy in the state, hence the need to produce the needed manpower to implement such services in the state,” he said.
Principal of the school, Nurudeen Aliu, said that the school was established in 1964 for the training of health auxiliaries.
“This institution has progressed to an institution that trains eight cadres of health workers and a certificate awarding institution.
“The school currently offers programmes such as Public Health Nursing, Environment Health Technology, Community Health, Extension Worker and Medical Laboratory Technology,” Aliu said.
