Olisa Metuh: loses bid to stall trial

Ayorinde Oluokun/ Abuja

Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja,  has  ordered  Olisa Metuh to open his defence and call his witness, if he has any in the corruption case filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
This was after the Judge dismissed three applications filed by lawyers to Metuh to stop the trial.

The Judge dismissed the  application by Destra Investments, a company owned by Metuh for adjournment based on the fact that it has just engaged a fresh lawyer as well as an application asking the Judge to disqualify himself from hearing the case.

The judge also dismissed  the application by Metuh to halt proceedings pending the application of the interlocutory appeal it filed at the Court of Appeal.

But the new counsel to Destra, Tochukwu Onwugbufor (SAN) who has been arguing for adjournment since the case began this morning tried  to force the court to adjourn.
