Ifeanyi Ubah: double punishment from LMC

The League Management Company of Nigeria  has found Chief Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, the owner of FC IfeanyiUbah and Capitol Oil guilty of misconduct.

He was not only fined  N2.5m, he also got red-carded as he was banned from appearing at  10 premier league matches.

His offence was that he encroached  the field of play  during a game between his club and Heartland FC and assaulted the goalkeeper of Heartland, Ebele Obi.

The sanctions against Ubah came as a surprise as the LMC had earlier in a statement on 30 March merely reprimanded  him for “for failing to show positive example by encroaching on the pitch and fuelling the disturbances that led to the harassment of players of Heartland by his team members and personal aides.”

His club was however fined N500,000 each for breaching two rules of the league, not being able to control supporters and allowing access to restricted areas by unauthorised persons.

In the statement the LMC said the reprimand was a general warning to all other club officials who are reminded that it is forbidden for aides and security details to bear arms into the stadium.

Heartland FC was  also cited for breach of Rule C9 by failing to properly control their players after the match day 8 game against FC IfeanyiUbah which led to their accosting of the match Referee in a manner that resulted in his being assaulted. The club was consequently fined N750, 000.

Goalkeeper Obi of Heartland was separately charged for breach of Rule C11 in that he assaulted the Referee by pushing him down and was banned from all NPFL activities and matches for six matches.
