Midfielder Ramadan Sobhy’s 65th minute goal against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in Alexandria, Egypt finally destroyed Nigeria’s Super Eagles faint hope of qualifying for the 2017 African Nations Cup in Gabon next January.
Scoreline was goalless at half time.
Ramadan, born in 1997, plays for Al Ahly, a local club and has been linked with Arsenal and Roma in the past.
Nigeria’s array of strikers just failed to see the Egyptian net.
The victory gives Egypt a seven point lead. Nigeria is stuck at just two points and even if it wins the game against Tanzania in June, it is automatically out of AFCON for the second edition running.
