Governor Ayo Fayose has institutionalised giving ridiculous, demeaning handouts to the people of his state, in the name of ‘stomach infrastructure’, a term that has no meaning in governance. Instead of fashioning programmes to tackle the problem of poverty—a problem ravaging the whole of South West Nigeria, including Lagos—he has turned his state into a beggarly state, offering dole to the poor people.
