A man simply identified as Mr Banjo was this morning hit by a moving trailer.

He died at the spot.

Our correspondent reliably gathered that the deceased, a pool operator lives around Idobi area in Ijebu Ode.

The incident which occurred around 9:30am Monday morning occurred at popular Arigbabu Roundabout, Ijebu Ode.

A witness informed that the man was hit by the moving trailer while he was about locking his vehicle.

“The incident was still like a drama. The man alighted from his car and was coming to buy newspapers at the area. As he came down and was locking his car, the trailer,coming from along Ibadan road heading towards Oyingbo side, hit the man and knocked him down.

“People ran there to see if they could rescue the man but he had died. The driver and the trailer was whisked away by the Police.

“To me,I don’t see anything in the arrest as the man will be released soon but the deed has been done”, he posited.

The body of the man was deposited at the Ijebu Ode General hospital mortuary along Omo Owo Road, Ijebu Ode.

A Police source from Igbeba Police Divisional area,Igbeba confirmed the accident to our correspondent.

The source disclosed that the man is in their custody while the trailer has been impounded.

Efforts to get the relatives of the  deceased to comment on the incident proved abortive as two of the relatives contacted had their lines switched off.
