Two more local councils in Rivers State have had their election for state and national assemblies candidates suspended over late arrivals of polling materials and violence.

Four councils were initially affected.

The six local councils are Andoni, Bonny, Gokana, Khana, Eleme & Tai

In the earlier announcement the Resident Electoral Commissioner Mr Aneidi Ikoiwak, said the cancellation of rerun elections in the four Local Government areas was because of irregularities.

Ikoiwak told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Saturday that some party agents attacked INEC officials for allegedly using fake election materials in their areas.

Ikoiwak described as untrue allegations that INEC sent fake election materials to some local government areas.

“All INEC materials used for the election are genuine,” he said.

The commissioner said a new date would be announced for the rerun election in the four local government areas.
