Labour Unions in Ogun state, southwestern,Nigeria have called off their strike, which began on 7 March.

The Chairman of the Joint Negotiation Committee, Comrade Abiodun Olakanmi confirmed the suspension, saying the unions acceded to the entreaties by respected personalities in the state.

The JNC boss directed all workers to resume at their work post tomorrow,Thursday 17,March, 2016.

“We have suspended the strike action for just two weeks to see if the governor will do the needful.

“We agreed to suspend the strike today after our meeting with the royal fathers, who have called to mediate in the matter. As a young fellow who also wants to become an elderly person, one must respect elders,especially, royal fathers.

“Also,we consider the good role played by Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi led Ogun state House of Assembly. Their mediations have been so marvellous and if one doesn’t want to become irrelevant, we just have to concede to their plea to allow the state government to do what is expected of it to do.

“Our royal fathers,Awujale and Alake have spoken with us. While we were at that meeting,the Olu of Ilaro,Oba Kehinde Olugbenle called us and invited us to Ilaro tomorrow. So,by the grace of God,we will be at Ilaro tomorrow to meet our father.
