Sokoto state residents will be voting for council chairmen and councillors today.

And the police whose duty it is to ensure security and normalcy say they are ready.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) in Sokoto State, Alhaji Salihu Fagge, adequate security personnel had been deployed to the 3,034 polling units across the state.

He called on eligible voters to come out and exercise their civil rights as various security measures had been put in place to guarantee their safety.

He said that the command had put in place sensitive security measures to ensure peaceful collection of results at all collection centres across the state.

The commissioner said that the command would not tolerate any form of violence before, during and after the election.

He added that “we have reached out to leaders of various political parties on the need for them to mobilise their supporters against any form of political violence and thuggery.”

He noted that plain clothes security personnel had been deployed in and outside the metropolis to ensure peaceful implementation of electoral processes.

He then urged parents to always monitor the conduct of their children as anyone found wanting would be arrested and prosecuted.
